Constructivity

Constructivity is an instruction manual created for Forestry and Land Scotland workers in Tentsmuir forest, which details how to use excess timber from routine tree thinning to create modular play equipment for children.

The instructions outline each stage of the process from felling and collecting wood to the assembly of the final equipment.

From researching the management of the forest and identifying its key stakeholders, I aimed to turn a process of managing the health of the forest into something that would encourage children to play collaboratively following the then recent lifting of lockdown restrictions.

The booklet was styled after old wood workshop instruction booklets and outlines stages for implementing the play equipment directly into the park at the Tentsmuir carpark, with a view to look into expanding further if proven succesful.

I also investigated funding and possible outlets for print as well as the procurement of funds through government or National Lottery grants.
